The serial number is per PC so, I suppose you could have it on your old and new drive so long as they are only used by that one PC. Do some research about its options before you install. The CD provides all the backup and restore options but no scheduling and no 'nonstop backup'. Much will depend upon what options of TrueImageHome you wish to use.

After doing a little reading it appears that the CD in the box is bootable are you saying that once I download the latest build that I will have to create a bootable version of the updated version I will be downloading.

But in case you would like to have an image of the clean OS without any programs installed, I'd advise you to use the bootable media.
